URUK completed the construction of a 179 unit apartment scheme in the conservation area of the Leicester city centre. The complex scheme was undertaken on the existing site of the former Wimbledon Mills textile factory which involved refurbishment of 4 individual residential apartment blocks and the demolition and construction of a new 8 storey steel frame apartment building.

The Alexandra building on the site had a Grade II listed facade, and as such the buildings within the entire development were viewed in the grounds of this listing. The development briefly comprised the following,

  • Wimbledon Building - 37 one and two bed apartments over 5 floors (Refurbished)
  • Southampton Building - 18 one and two bed apartments over 4 floors (Refurbished)
  • Courtyard Building - 49 one and two bed apartments over 8 floors (New Build)
  • Rutland Building - 38 one and two bed apartments over 5 floors (Refurbished)
  • Alexandra Building - 37 one and two bed apartments over 4 floors (Refurbished)
  • Courtyard car park and podium slab (New Build)

In delivering this project the company have successfully managed the entire development process from site purchase, feasibility study and re-planning, to construction completion and installation of the facilities management services through the use of the following in-house services,
